One my my favourite songs on many levels. The idea came to me when the cook at a camp we were working at came to talk to me after a few odd dreams. They seemed to be leading her towards a specific destination in life, but she was unsure as to what it all meant. I told her it was quite likely that God’s Spirit was guiding her and that she should talk it out with people she trusted, but also trust that God was indeed directing her. After thinking about our conversation, the phrase “Speak To My Dreams” came to mind, and that inspired the lyrics. The melody followed along pretty naturally. I’ve sung this song a few times, but when I dusted it off recently, I heard a new arrangement in my head, so I thought I’d give it a go.

Here is is, in very rough form.

Speak To My DreamsWorks_In_Progress.html

Speak to my dreams, speak to my visions,

Make them holy and pure in your sight.

Wrapped in your grace, safe in this place,

Resting secure in your arms

There will I see, there will I be,

Everything you've dreamed for me.

Speak to my dreams, speak to my visions,

Make them holy and pure in your sight.

Make them holy and pure in your sight.

  1. Sing through my fears, sing through my terrors,

  2. Make their darkness disperse in your light.

  3. Your trust my shield, never to yield,

  4. Comforted in your strong arms.

  5. There will I see, there will I be,

  6. Everything you've dreamed for me.

  7. Sing through my fears, sing through my terrors,

  8. Make their darkness disperse in your light.

  9. Make their darkness disperse in your light.

Pray me through doubt, pray me through questions,

Make my answers speak your living Word.

Cradling my head, wisdom my bed,

Erasing uncertainty.

There will I know, there will I grow,

Into what you've dreamed for me.

Pray me through doubt, pray me through questions,

Make my answers speak your living Word.

Make my answers speak your living Word.

Make my answers speak your living Word.
