I used to have a model railroad; it was never completed. It wasn’t for lack of time or interest that I didn’t finish it, it was because I was far more interested in the building process than running the trains ‘round and ‘round. Some folks love simulating the operation of a real railroad. They set up time-tables and plan the loads and the routes their trains will take. That’s not me. I love to build all the things that make up a layout and I am perfectly happy letting others run the trains. Thankfully, I have a friend who doesn’t like building models (shocking, I know) so he commissions me to do the work for him. My payment is the joy of putting together a kit and finishing it as desired. That’s enough for me.
